GLASSWASHERS The Perfect Wash Needless to say if you look after your glasswasher it will look after your glasses! Below are a few things you can do to ensure the best possible results from your DC product Always empty debris (toothpicks, lemon peal, pips, cocktail sticks, cigarette butts and packaging, crisp packets etc) from your glasses before putting them through your glasswasher.
The Perfect Head.
Flat beer or poor head retention.
If you are experiencing problems with retaining the head on you beers and lagers make sure that you are not over dosing the machine with rinse aid. Rinse aid reduces the surface water tension allowing water to ‘sheet’ off the glass, therefore enabling your glasses to dry quickly and brightly with out leaving any streaks or deposits. If however, you have too much rinse aid going into the machine it will reduce the surface tension of your beer or lager as well and thus prevent it from keeping its head.
Poor results? If you are experiences bad results then it maybe because over time a layer of protein has built up on the inside of the glass. This can happen for a number of reasons. It maybe that you have not had enough detergent going into the machine during each cycle, or that the detergent you have used maybe too weak or of poor quality. It may also be that you have been ‘polishing’ the glasses with a towel that has been washed with fabric conditioner or that the suggestions outlined in ‘the perfect wash’ have not been adhered to and a build up of proteins and yeast have been allowed to build up over time.
You can easily determine whether this has happened by running a clean, white serviette around the inside of the glass. If you find a brown deposit appearing on the serviette you may need to take some action. If it’s a very light deposit showing on the serviette the first thing to try is increasing your detergent dosage. Run the glasses through the machine a couple of times and see whether it has removed the deposit. If this doesn’t remove the film you can use a renovate product to get your glasses back to a satisfactory condition.
General Information and advice
Make sure that you regenerate your water softener on a regular basis. Once a week is suitable for most establishments but if you are in a particularly hard water area and have an above average through put this maybe carried out more regularly. By regenerating your softener you will extend the life of your DC product and reduce the amount of detergent and rinse aid required to run the machine. |
